A Ferguson man is being charged after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of Pokémon cards from a store.

The St. Peters Police Department says the theft was reported Sept. 10, when an officer responded to a call about a felony theft at a business in the county. After getting statements from witnesses and reviewing surveillance video, officers identified 23-year-old Cameren Wilburn.

According to a probable cause statement, security footage showed Wilburn take three cardboard boxes with white and red tape from the warehouse floor, then leave through a side door next to the break room and walk to the parking lot.

Police said a witness reported seeing Wilburn leave the business carrying three cases of cards without paying.
The witness also told officers they overheard Wilburn speaking on the phone and saying he was “gonna get her” and that “she’s cool with it,” which the witness believed was a reference to the on-duty manager allowing him to take the items.

According to police, the on-duty manager denied ever giving Wilburn permission to take anything from the store.

Store management later conducted an inventory and found that three cases and one individual package of Pokémon Trading card game booster packs with toppers were missing. The 19 total individual games are valued at $5,774.67.

Wilburn was charged with stealing $750 or more, and had a warrant issued for his arrest Friday.
