A man charged in the death of a 7-year-old Johnstown girl during an alleged imitation of a violent video game has pleaded guilty in Weld County District Court.
Weld County District Attorney spokeswoman Jennifer Finch says 18-year-old Lamar Roberts pleaded guilty Monday to child abuse-knowingly/recklessly causing death. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 16.
Prosecutors say Roberts and his girlfriend, 17-year-old Heather Trujillo, were baby-sitting Zoe Garcia on Dec. 6, 2007, when they kicked, hit and slammed Zoe to the floor during an imitation of the "Mortal Kombat" video game.
Trujillo was Zoe's half-sister.
She pleaded guilty in May to child abuse-negligently causing death. Her prison sentence was suspended on the condition she successfully complete six years in Colorado's youth offender system.
