Hello, fellow gamers.

I'd like to show you a fangame I'm currently working on, called "Mario Bros Battle Online". It's based on the old 1983 "Mario Bros" arcade game with new, tighter controls, a 16bit graphics overhaul (Similar to what we've seen in SMB3's battle mode). It'll have multiple game modes such as "Classic" where you play the good old 1983 version, "Modern" which will have new enemies and even powerups and several party modes.

Local multiplayer will be supported and in the final stage of development, as the name indicates, an online mode will be added aswell where you can play against each other or co-operate.

Screenshots, info and a even a demo can be found here:

Please note that this demo is outdated by a month now, physics have been updated since then. A new demo will be released after local multiplayer's done.

Also, here's a teaser trailer of the game:

The trailer's interesting, but can we have some actual pictures/footage of the game itself?

Also, it reminds me of this flash game I saw online (in concept):

But hey, your one ought to be a lot better. I mean, stylistically, what I saw in the teaser trailer looked more professional, I assume the score will work properly and the online multiplayer makes it interesting.

So yeah, good luck with the game!

Ah yes, well the point of the teaser was to make it look interesting / intriguing. Some scenes of it (Like the introduction to Mario and Luigi) will be used in the game's intro.

Actual game footage can be seen on the link I posted above the trailer, along with screenshots and a progress indicator. But for convenience sake, I'll post the video of the in-game footage here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84Spp9CZn8o

Note that this video is already a bit outdated, since the physics have been upgraded. (Mario has been given more hangtime ahfter hitting a block, Luigi is now almost playable etc.).

Also the game you showed me... yeah I played it a while ago, but I can't say I was too excited. The physics are really bad and the gameplay is slow and not dynamic at all. I've played a lot of those arcade fangames but none of them came even close to the original's quality (Which was the reason I decided to do one on my own, with added extras.)

Yeah, I saw your site since that post, which had the screenshots and above trailer on it. Those looked pretty nice.

And the arcade game is definitely very rough around the edges. It's a pretty good example of how... well, kind of mediocre a lot of Mario flash games are. Don't know why (ROM hacking and Mario Fan Games Galaxy seem to have better quality control than Newgrounds and the likes used to), but yeah, it's not a game that's aged well.

So, you posted about it on Mario Fan Games Galaxy yet? Seems like it could be a pretty good place to publicise this game, especially given how many people there tend to download and promote fan games.

Thank you, glad you liked it. =)

Yeah it really hasn't ages very well but even for it's time it was pretty mediocre at best. Newgrounds is more like a flash site than a game site and, other than the fact that flash gaming is pretty much dead now (will be completely replaced by HTML5 soon), newground's only quality control are the users themselves. MFGG used to be the birthplace of all kinds of really BAD fangames, but today that has changed pretty much.

I am planning to submit the demo to MFGG, but first I'll finish the engine completely, which will take me some time still. If you want you can play the (outdated) demo which you can download off my site?
