A new power-up will turn your character into metal - just like the Metal Mario from Mario 64. Footage showed characters flying while still using the power-up, so it's unknown just how the item affects attributes. It appears the Fire Flower power-up, a staple of the Mario series, is being brought in as another weapon.

A new racer is joining the Mario Kart team - Lakitu. The classic Mario villain will be able to use his cloud as a kart as well.

Lastly, Nintendo revealed Mario Kart 7 will have a first-person driving mode that will use the gyroscope.

Game got a patch update 10 years later! Surely though, it is an update to start killing its servers.

Yeah but it says if you don't have it you can't play online anyways. It's to patch the track shortcuts. IMO I only used them for Time Trials and now this would make it more fun. If all else fails the fans will redeem us just like how you can still use Miiverse.
