sourceMario Kart 8's first downloadable content pack will release November 13, Nintendo announced today.
The DLC pack adds Link, Cat Peach, and Tanooki Mario to the roster of playable characters. The pack also includes eight new tracks, including an area themed around The Legend of Zelda called Hyrule Circuit, Mute City from F-Zero, and a stage dedicated to the classic Excitebike series. Special carts like the Master Cycle and B-Dasher will also make their Mario Kart 8 debut.
A mandatory title update, released today, is required for the first DLC pack to work. It will upgrade Mario Kart 8 to software version 3.0, which allows players to use amiibo figures to unlock special racing suits for Miis.
Nintendo announced two DLC packs for Mario Kart 8 in August. The second pack is due for release in May 2015. Each pack is available separately for $7.99 USD on the eShop, or as a bundle with the May DLC pack included for $11.99 USD.
