While it hasn’t even been released in Australia or America yet, it seems European and Japanese Mario Kart Wii owners have already figured out how to fudge times in the game’s online Time Trials. The method involves doing one lap of a course and after finishing this first lap, the player turns the kart back around to face the finishing line and then quits.

Magically the time will be saved, with some karters showing off ridiculously impossible times. However, it seems Nintendo has already clamped down hard on the issue by deleting obviously faked records and allegedly blocking it from happening again. If fixed it’s a win for Nintendo, but obviously a patching system would come in handy at this point.

doesn't Nintendo test these games?

I've been starting to think that programmers leave things in so that they can exploit them later. It's one of the most logical things that would explain how some of these completely random ways to be figured out.
