Though revealed late last year, Nintendo has finally confirmed the full title, developer and release date for the Mario Tennis game coming to the Nintendo 3DS. Titled Mario Tennis Open, the 3DS game is being developed by Camelot and will arrive in the United States on May 20. The game is set to release in Europe on May 25.
The game features full touch screen support, allowing players to tap different sections to perform different swings, though traditional button commands will work as well. During the presentation, Nintendo described the game as "fast-paced" with increasingly intense rallies. The publisher also mentioned the game has an "incredible amount of depth."
Mario Tennis Open will also support the gyroscope, allowing players to look around the court from a ground-level perspective. Both local and online multiplayer for up to four players will be supported. Matchmaking will be included for online play, along with leaderboards and medals.
