• Anyone here know about it? It's in D/P/PL, HG/SS, and B/W (B2/W2 also I'm sure...).

• Basically, if you breed two Pokemon from different regions, you have a better chance of getting a hatched Shiny Pokemon. An example would be a US Pikachu with a Japanese Raichu. In-game trades do not count, however.

• The odds of hatching a Shiny in Generation IV(D/P/PL, HG/SS) using the Masuda Method is 5/8192 (1/1639). For Generation V(B/W), it is bumped up to 6/8192 (1/1366). So, GTS suddenly seems amazingly useful after knowing this, doesn't it? Apparently, it is even labeled off as much more reliable than "Chaining" with the Poke Radar in D/P/PL...and I've actually successfully chained to get a Shiny Buneary before..

This brings me back. And those numbers should not be taken lightly! Its those odds every time; you are not guaranteed to get your shiny even if you breed a million eggs. A friend of mine wasted TWO MONTHS of free time trying to get a shiny Litwick and it never happened.

On the other hand, I just happen to have a dozen or so foreign Pokemon, so I will use them when I can, but I never expect to get a shiny. I have bred thousands of Pokemon this way and so far have only gotten a shiny Murkrow from a friend and a shiny Chansey and Flaaffy through random encounters. The Poke Radar method was so much better, it was broken by comparison and removed from later games.

• I want to try this method out as I keep thinking I'm kinda....Shiny prone, and I wanna see if it's true at all. I've encountered 3 Shinies in Ruby, one in Fire Red, one in Diamond via Chaining, two in Platinum...specifically, one is actually a Shiny Giratina..unintentionally too. Even in White, I encountered a Shiny Clefairy in the wild..

Shiny Legendary? That's just about the rarest thing of all. Less then a one in a million chance, I believe, and the odds are run when you first load your game (you can't reset every time you approach it or anything).

That's pretty lucky!

I'm lucky I even GOT a shiny in black. It was venipede which is now scolipede and strangly my cousin got one too in a seprate location before me.

There should be a better way of getting shinies in black. For those who don't have japanese pokemon like me.

It's luck and the only non legit shiny so far is arceus. and you can reset every time just save near it and keep trying it.

First of all, please do not double/triple post; just make edits to your existing post if you are still the last person.

Secondly, no. You cannot reset next to a legendary to have chances for it to be shiny. Like I said, that number is run the second you start a new game because, unlike other Pokemon, a legendary is on the map or pre-loaded to appear in a certain spot. You would have to restart your entire game (like I said in the post that you edited out when you quoted me).

If you have any videos claiming to show something different, then they hacked it.

I believe it wasn't like this in gen 3.. I hav eseen a ot of people soft-resetting for this..

I've been wanting to try out this method before, but I've only managed to get a few wild shinies. Such as my Lugia >:]

• Nah Spoony, I was soft resetting in front of Giratina for a good nature + IVs though. It's the same odds as any other wild Shiny Pokemon encounter. I'm sure you meant roaming Legendaries though such as Mesprit, Raikou, Entei... Just remembered something. I had an interesting coincidental accident happen to a friend of mine too when Platinum was the current Pokemon game. We were talking about my Shiny Giratina in AIM, and he mentions he never caught a Shiny Legendary before. But right after he mentions that, he goes into Snowpoint Temple to catch Regigigas...which popped up Shiny on the first encounter. He thinks it's somehow my fault, and that I "PK Haxed"..it's funny too 'cause Regigigas is right next to Giratina in the Pokedex too.

• ...And that's another cheesy reason why I think I'm Shiny prone. Lol.

Kinda same thing happened to me.. Was playing Soul Silver, and I was in the Lugia cave. I started the battle, and suddenly he was pink. So I trew my Master Ball at him..

I wish I was shiny prone...I've only met one. >>

Anyway, I've tried the Masuda Method a few times in the past, but I never got a shiny through it and eventually gave up trying.

I found a shiny Stantler in Soul Silver and a shiny Seviper in sapphire.

Got a shiny pawniard through the Matsuda method in White a couple months ago. Took several days of egg grinding whenever I had the chance. Other than that one though, the only shiny I've ever had the opportunity to own was the red Gyrados in Gold/Silver.
