Though Mega Man has seen his share of comic books and manga hit Western shores, one classic Japanese series, "Rockman Megamix," has never made its way over. Today Udon announced plans to change that starting in January 2010.
Originally written and drawn by Hitoshi Ariga, who might be known in manga circles for his work on the series "Big O," the three-volume series is currently being localized by Udon. The publisher stated it has contacted Ariga to acquire the original art files as well as consult on translation efforts. Consistent with all local Blue Bomber releases, the volumes will be retitled "Mega Man Megamix."
Udon describes the series as featuring "franchise regulars" such as Dr. Light, Dr. Wily, Proto Man, Bass & Treble, Rush, Roll and "tons" of the Robot Masters. The company also noted that each release will feature profiles, sketches, assorted comedic sequences and creator interviews as back-up material. The first book is due on January 27, with the second and third volumes due in April and July 2010.
