Currently only for Japan, but it's through a QR code! What does this mean though?

Well, we have a few character rackets that don't have matching costumes (e.g. Wiggler), so perhaps this is the start of something good, such as bonus characters to play around as!

For me, the ultimate dream would be getting Shy Guy through a QR code, but I doubt it, as there's a Shy Guy Mii Costume... unless if they really are nice.

Still, there you go. It was kind of expected, but at the same time, was a bit of a curveball.

*Sounding like Professor from Spyro 2* AH-HA!!! I wondered if he was considered, given I unlocked his racquet just yesterday. And I was going to make a topic about it later today, saying something along the lines of "Was Metal Mario considered for Mario Tennis Open?"

Well, maybe, just maybe, Koopa and Paratroopa get a release too. So the Yoshis where almost like a cover-up to what was REALLY coming. *Crosses fingers for Australian QR code of Metal Mario and any others that may come out*

Last QR character? Aw man. Oh well, Metal Mario is still a pretty cool addition. I wonder what play style he is. I'm guessing Power or Defense.
 
He looks more like a power than defense. It's too bad if Metal Mario's the final character. I was hoping at least Lakitu to make the cut.

Metal Mario is indeed a Power type(says Mario Wiki)!

I was thinkin' Hammer Bro. would make the cut.I could see him holding a tennis-racket.

I'm not supprized that Metal Mario is in as a seperate character instead of a costum for Mario like what they did with Yoshi if they would have done that it probably would have lead to more characters.
 
DEBUT: Tennis Bro. For the next Mario Tennis.

But i'm surprised they don't do more from Mario, like Fire Mario, Tanooki Mario, Etc.
Dry Bowser should've been an alternate costume through qr and not a seperate character tbh so we had 1 more character atleast.

I wouldnt be if he was one of the 4 "newcomer" characters though.
But why couldn't dry bowser have been a QR character too? He's kind of a recolor, he has almost the same model as bowser
