Now it turns out Microsoft wants to charge you for playing DVDs as well as it was recently discovered by the folks at Windows Central that the official DVD Player app is available for purchase via the Windows Store for a whopping $14.99. That being said if you are coming from an upgrade from Windows 7 (any version) or Windows 8.1, the app will be available in your update for free.

I think it would be more worth it to buy a DVD player which you can get for $20 or less online, or at a store like Bestbuy.

There are also a lot of free programs like VLC, GOM Player, and KM Player which can play DVD movies.

I feel bad for the fools who actually buy that.

I think not many people will buy this app.

But, some schools, and companies may buy this DVD app since they just want to quickly buy a program which can play DVD in Windows 10, and there may not be many DVD player software which is fully compatible with Windows 10.

PowerDVD is probably the best paid DVD player software for Windows because it can play DVD, Blu-Ray, ISO files, and 4K content. PowerDVD cost $85, so it is more expensive than the Windows 10 DVD player app.
