Microsoft Absent from Gamescom and TGS

Microsoft will not be attending Gamescom or Tokyo Game Show this year.

Following several statements released by Microsoft this morning, Major Nelson (director of programming for Xbox Live) confirmed the news on his official blog.

"As you saw at E3, we have a solid line-up of games launching this holiday, along with other entertainment experiences. We’ve changed our approach a little, though. This year, Xbox will be focusing on smaller, more localized promotions and experiences for press, partners, retailers and customers around the world.

Well they already kind of went over that extensively during E3.

It sounds like MS plans to let the average person, and local press try out their new products at the mall, toys store, and video game retailers rather then just showing the Press their new games at conventions. I think since people these days are so active on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, personal blogs, forums, and websites more people will talk and learn about MS new product from YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, personal blogs, forums, and websites then from conventions which a lot of people don't know exist or follow.

Plus, MS probably show most of their games at E3.
