MicroSoft and Konami Rumors

So, I was going to post this in the news originally but I decided not to for several reasons.

Anyhow, Raithgar and I have been following the going-ons in Konami very closely and the Silent Hills game that was much anticipated got cancelled when it was apparently almost done with production (over 80%). Now, all of which I am about to post, as well as that info, I should add was pointed out to me by Raithgar, so credit to him. Rumors began spreading that the Silent Hill series was being sold to MicroSoft shortly after Hideo Kojima left the project and Konami.

Phil Spencer, speaking on behalf of MicroSoft said he didn't know where the rumors came from, but they are not true. As Raithgar pointed out to me, however, Phil Spencer has also lied in the past over similar instances; particularly when MicroSoft was in the process of buying another large license, which it turned out they WERE, in fact buying despite Phil saying it was a false rumor (I want to say it was Minecraft but it may have been Rare, I forget to be honest).

So, anyone else think the rumor may have some truth behind it? I'll admit I'm teeter-tottering on both sides of the fence at this point. I mean, MicroSoft HAS been buying a LOT of licenses the past few years (Hudson, Rare, Skype, Mojang to name a few) so I wouldn't put it past them. It is also funny that the cancellation of a project when a playable teaser demo for a game is out would make Sony take down the demo from the market and refuse the re-downloading of it by those who had downloaded it originally when you can usually do so at will once anything is downloaded. Add to that last point that when you download anything from Sony's online shop it is considered a purchase, which would make Sony at risk of being sued for breaking their own ToS where purchases and downloads are concerned - another great point from Raithgar. In fact, PS4s with the demo on it were selling for over $1,500.00 on e-Bay until Sony forced e-Bay to prohibit sales. Now, what would make them have so much concern over a demo, I wonder? I mean, apart from licenses changing hands to a new holder, I can't think of anything.

So Microsoft bought the series and that's why it was taken down from the Playstation Network?

Sounds possible. It does make me wonder one thing though;

Could this actually be a good thing? Maybe Microsoft is actually planning to continue the series afterwards (and hopefully not mess it up as badly as they did Rare's games)?

the funny thing is Konami also said "we are still interested in continuing the silent hill series"
