From PC Mag:

Microsoft is experimenting with AI in Minecraft to let players tell the game what to do.

In an internal demo of the AI, players were able to tell the game to build something like a fort or castle, describe how they wanted it to look, and watch as the game followed their instructions, Semafor reports

According to Semafor, there are no immediate plans to roll the AI tech out in public versions of Minecraft. PCMag reached Microsoft for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

The AI, which uses natural language interpretation, similar to ChatGPT, was reportedly made in partnership with OpenAI. In January, Microsoft said it was making a “multiyear, multibillion-dollar investment” in the AI company—reportedly as much as $10 billion.

If this can speed up building huge things this would be great for players with less experience to make fun areas to play around and customize in.

Looks like Microsoft is looking to put an end to all those hours spent punching trees and digging for diamonds! Who knows, maybe we'll even see the rise of "professional Minecraft AI players" in the future!

I hope Minecraft AI will be fun to use. I feel telling Minecraft AI to build something can be less useful if a player is not good at speaking, or have a limited language vocabulary where you don't know what words to use to describe what to build.
