President Barack Obama continues to slag video games, this time during a speech given to the NAACP last Thursday night.

The President maintains that parents need to look after their children more closely, this includes turning of the "Xbox."

Here's the excerpt from the speech (via WSJ)

QUOTE     "We can't tell our kids to do well in school and then fail to support them when they get home," he said. "You can't just contract out parenting. For our kids to excel, we have to accept our responsibility to help them learn. That means putting away the Xbox — putting our kids to bed at a reasonable hour. It means attending those parent-teacher conferences and reading to our children and helping them with their homework."

We don't really think Obama is calling out Microsoft's console specifically, but rather just generalizing video games as a whole. But don't think that didn't stop the software giant from turning this situation into an ample opportunity to generate good press.

"We agree with President Obama that it's a time for families to work together so that kids use media in ways that are safe, healthy and balanced," said a Microsoft spokesperson.

"Xbox 360 is the only console gaming system that has a timer feature allowing parents to set time limits for their kids, as well as parent controls to enable parents to set limits on what their kids are playing and watching."

Obama, stick to getting the terrorist and leave the video game issues to the parents of kids who you never met or know about.

Ill say that some families do need to get their kids off the gaming consoles. Some play far too much and it interferes with their grades and social life. Then again, its not a job for Obama to do. I agree, he shouldn't be worried about gaming, and more worried about finding and locating terrorists. But then again, we dont want our generation and next generations to be lazy and game all day. Not everyone does, but they do need to lead successful lives. You do actually learn some things from gaming though. A lot of my knowledge comes from games and computers. It's when you turn into a gaming zombie and never get off the couch that the parents need to do something about it.

That's funny. But I do think that Obama shouldn't speak for all of us. Especially since people make a living from video games.
