Microsoft starts downloading Windows 10 automatically through Windows Update

Microsoft has followed through with its plans to push adoption of Windows 10 by downloading it in the background to user machines running Windows 7 and 8 set to accept automatic updates.

The company changed the designation of the Windows 10 download from “optional” to “recommended” within Windows Update, which means anyone with Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 that has automatic updates activated – the default and the best way to keep a computer protected against security bugs – with recommended updates automatically selected will have Windows 10 downloaded without asking.

I think automatic download for Windows 10 installer in Windows update will make a lot of users who have low bandwidth limits upset that Windows is using up their bandwidth to download Windows 10 which they may not want.

So... this happened to me yesterday and I ended up upgrading because the notifications were too much to handle. Now I have to get use to Windows 10. I'm currently trying to figure out how to make Windows 10 stop auto-assigning their native apps for playing videos and opening images.

What's so bad about Win10? The time for the free upgrade is almost up and I'm considering to try it out between now and that time.

forced ads, removing any program MS doesn't like, forced and constant upgrades that MS doesn't detail, the UWP system which would block steam use. There are rumors saying W10 would become rented instead of a one time purchase.
