Microsoft isn't ready to announce a suggested retail price for Kinect at this E3 gathering, but Phil Spencer, Corporate Vice President for Microsoft Game Studios, talked to IGN about what we should expect, as well as why he thinks its motion controller is the best option for the consumer.

Microsoft intends to target a broader set of consumers than what traditional games consoles have in the past. That will guide the pricing, according to Spencer. "For us Kinect is a broad, consumer part of our platform and will be priced appropriately. The other pricing out there, I'm not sure I exactly understand the pricing of what some of the competitors are doing. We want to have a clear price that is understandable and explainable to the consumer. And I think another aspect is that it works for multiple people. You don't have to buy multiple sensors with Kinect, it works with multiple people in the room."

He added, "Hitting a consumer price point that's very accessible is fundamental to our strategy. So people should expect that is where we'll target."
