Hmm...I wonder if there's more to this story than meets the eye. I would assume that they would go to greater lengths to conceal this. Then again, we are talking about Microsoft, the company which shot its self in the foot repeatedly at E3.
Hilarious they weren't even using Windows 8. Not even the company that created it wants to use it.
Well, seeing how expensive the consoles are, the dev kits would be too expensive for them to just put around the E3... i guess that could be a good excuse, right?
Does this mean we can play Xbox One games on Windows 7, and 8 Gaming PCs?
It is strange that the Xbox One uses the AMD APU, but their video card for the Dev kit is made by Nvidia which is AMD's main competitor when it comes to video cards.
This actually thoroughly amuses me. Microsoft can't even trust their own latest operating system to run their Next Gen console, that's just sad. I am really hoping that there is just more to the story than what meets the eye... but if there isn't... then that's just laughable.
I am curious as to why they thought that Windows 7 would bring about a higher end performance then their latest OS. Perhaps they aren't done figuring out all the ins and outs of how their games are going to work... I don't know. All I know is that once again, Microsoft looks stupid.
Most likely, Windows 8 was still in Beta, or did not exist before the PC Dev Kits were made a few years after the Xbox 360 launched before 8 was available for retail. 8 is only a few months old while 7 is many years old. Plus, erasing the hard drive with Windows 7 to reinstall Windows 8 is very time consuming since you need to erase Windows 7, Install Windows 8, reinstall all the software, and games, and install all the Windows 8 Updates from the internet.
Also, Nvidia, and other hardware drivers are more compatible in Windows 7 since 7 is an older OS, so the drivers will work better.
