At approximately 10 a.m. PDT today the company will release a security update to address the issue that affects Internet Explorer. The update is tested and ready for release for all affected versions of the browser. Those who have automatic updates enabled need not worry, it will be downloaded and installed behind the scenes.

Even though Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft the company made the decision to issue a security update for XP users as well. Nevertheless it still urges users to upgrade from XP to a latest version of Windows, such as Windows 7 or 8.1. Customers are also advised to upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer, which is IE11.

It's good to know Windows XP will still be getting patch for this dangourous bug.

Maybe MS should just get rid of IE, and install Firefox, Maxthon or Opera as its default browser for XP, and other versions of Windows.

I think if the media, and Windows XP users continue to complain about the lack of patches, XP may still be supported, so Microsoft does not ruin its own brand image by being known as the company who does not support its own operating system which is still used by almost 30% of the world's PC.

MS is too prideful to get rid of their IE flagship, if nothing else they should get rid of it and make a new one based on FF or chrome.

Anyways, it's good they will still support it somewhat.

Yes, it is good that there will be still some security updates. I wonder if this would be the last free updates for XP, or there will be more because of pressure from the many people who still use XP.

Microsoft should just create a new browser from scratch. IE always has been problematic for them, and for them to have to release and update for XP when they've already done away with XP support is just worrying.
