SourceMega Man creator Keiji Inafune's upcoming Mighty No. 9 is now open to additional funding through PayPal, where backers can contribute to unlock bonus content.
Content for the base game of Mighty No. 9 is already set in stone, and additional funding will only be directed toward bonus features. Although the development team is reaching out to those who backed the title through its original Kickstarter campaign, the majority of the new focus is being centered on those who missed out the first time around.
As of now, the only listed goal for extra funding is full English voice acting, which will be unlocked at $100,000 USD. Although no further stretch goals are announced, the Mighty team is calling it the first, so more may be following.
Also, non-backers who want to pre-order the game can do so now through Humble Bundle, with three different packages to choose from. These include:
$23 – Mighty No. 9 at a discounted pre-release price.
$50 – Mighty No. 9, along with a digital-style retro game manual, digital art book and strategy guide, and digital soundtrack.
$80 – Mighty No. 9, aforementioned digital rewards and Steam beta access for Windows.
Lastly, in what may be the first attempt to make good on Inafune's intended multimedia expansion, the team at Digital Frontiers, a CGI production company, released a teaser for a Mighty No. 9 animated series. The animated series will focus on protagonist Beck as he's thrusted into a robot combat league against his will. Although no timeframe was given for the series' debut, the Mighty team said additional updates will be posted on Digital Frontiers' site.
I think he's pushing it with this.
