Truth be told, the population of Windows 10 Mobile Phone users might be so small that it might not justify spending developer time and resources to maintain. It will still majorly irk some faithful Windows 10 Mobile users, especially those still hoping for a renaissance of the platform, especially considering how popular Minecraft is among the gaming and modding community.

Minecraft no longer being updated in Windows 10 mobile is disappointing to Windows 10 Mobile phone users.

But, at least Minecraft is an open world game which is like a building blocks game, so people can always build stuff with the blocks in Minecraft even if no new features are added to it in the future.

Hopefully, Minecraft at least release software fixes if future versions of Windows Phone OS causes problems with Minecraft.

If the small group of windows 10 phone users are lucky, they will have someone who could maybe keep it updated for them?

Microsoft can always make Minecraft Opensource/free for Windows Phone Mobile, so users can volunteer to maintain it, and update it sort of like Gimp image editor which is maintained by a few volunteers.

This is so weird. Everyone expected Microsoft to stop supporting Minecraft on other systems when they acquired, but it seems to be the other way around.

Minecraft is not a free game which can make money from ads and in-app purchases. The sales of Minecraft games are probably very low where MS is losing money by hiring a few people to maintain the app for Windows 10 Mobile which is losing users to Apple, and Android.

Most people also probably rather play the original desktop version of Minecraft which works for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

True, but still strange they are pulling support for one of the biggest mobile apps on their mobile OS that desperately needs more apps rather than less. Minecraft is still the top grossing app on iOS.

Microsoft probably finds it more worth it for Microsoft to spend more time on improving the Xbox, PS4, PC, iOS, and Android versions of Minecraft which are the versions of Minecraft which is keeping Minecraft active, and bring in new players everyday.

Minecraft's staff may still get to make most business decisions on what operating systems it wants to support, and which operating systems like Windows Phone which are not worth supporting because Windows Phone's Minecraft version don't get a lot of new users per month, and Minecraft Windows Phone owners rarely play Minecraft on Windows Phone.

I was under the same impression, but Microsoft seems to be completely incompetent as far as their mobile division is concerned...

Makes perfect sense, the market share for these phones aren't great and it is probably costing them more in development fees than it is returning in sales.
