Minecraft is getting a graphics overhaul, most likely to support 4k display.

The new texture pack will also come alongside a Better Together update which will introduce cross-play among the many different platforms Minecraft is on. New player-made content and community run servers will be incorporated into the game proper, helping to unify the player-base across mobile, Windows 10, VR and console.

The graphical overhaul is neat, I wonder if the Switch version will receive it as an option.

I only have one question, and that is who in their right mind thought "super duper" was the way to go when naming this?! Was it the same guy that thought Xbox One X was a good idea? I mean for the love of God I can't be the only one that thinks it sounds just plain lazy.

Otherwise I mean, it does look quite nice. It's a shame that Sony doesn't want to play along though. I've always felt the more stuff there is to unite gamers, the better.

I guess you'll need an Xbox Live account for crossplay if you're on the Switch. Nintendo probably played ball because they aren't in direct competition with Microsoft the way Sony is.

The only Minecraft that I got is on the computer and on my Xbox 360 so this isn't as exciting for me but I can imagine it will be for dedicated Minecraft players. I just wonder how important graphics are to an average Minecraft player? Minecraft was never a type of game where it was very graphics driven... it is made out of squares and building.

I do love the actual game but I've grown a bit bored of it. Maybe I just lack the creativity. I used to play it a lot though but that was years ago when everybody was.

I swear game companies these days just rehash their old games with newer graphics and sell it for a ton of money. I guess if there are players who eat up anything they throw at them, these companies will just keep cashing in the profits. It's sad, because today's big companies are simply relying on DLCs, microtransactions, and even in-game currency to make a profit, while the ones trying something new are stuck in indie-game limbo, never seeing any mainstream attention even after all the hard work they have put in.

Minecraft is eternal. I don't think this is a rehash though, probably just DLC for a texture and shader pack.

I used to play Minecraft but I never got fully into it. I gave up when it came to constructing certain thing such as a mine cart system. I'm not so sure how I feel about this 4K graphics update. It's still a game based entirely on blocks. Is a 4K block that much better?
