Mobile games are big business, with phone and tablet gaming revenue set to exceed $4.6 billion in North America alone this year, according to a new report from the gaming research firm Eedar. And the audience is broadening.

The average age of a smartphone or tablet gamer is 27.7, which is seven years younger than it was a year ago, the report found. The conclusions were drawn from an August 2014 survey of 3,500 mobile and tablet gamers.

I always thought the average age of mobile gamers were people in their teens, and early 20s. I think as the cost of traditional console, and PC games, and consoles and Gaming PC continue to become more expensive, the average age of mobile gamers will be younger because many young people don't have much money because they don't work full time jobs, or have low wage jobs. But, a lot of young people own a Smartphone or a tablet like the Amazon Kindle Fire, or Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 inch which can play games.
