Adobe analyzed more than 1 billion visits for more than 1,000 websites and found that 8% of traffic came from tablets. That ranks ahead of the 7% of visits that came from smartphones. Of course, that leaves 85% or so percent of Web traffic still coming from desktop PCs and laptops.

I think the main reason for tablets being more popular is that people can easily buy tablets without signing up for a cell phone plan, and they are now cheaper with so many cheap Chinese, and Asian branded tablets which you can buy from Amazon, eBay, and Craigslist for under $99.

Plus, using a tablet to browse the web is easier since it has a bigger screen, the onscreen keyboard is bigger, and it is faster if you own a good tablet like the Kindle Fire, Nexus 7, Galaxy Tab, and iPads with multi-core CPUs, and 1GB or more RAM.

The PCs are eating the rest of them. :P

Tablets have the bigger screen so tablets have the advantage anyway. Browsing with a smartphone is like looking at a map through a microscope.

I bet there may be a small percentage between 1-5% of those laptops, and desktops which are Windows 8 laptops with touchscreens which make them Hybrid laptop tablets like the Surface Pro.

I wonder if there is any way to find out if Windows 8 is installed on a tablet, laptop, or desktop by just looking at website stats.

Browsing through Tablets is like using a mini laptop, it's obvious that people prefer it instead.

Indeed, a tablet is like a mini-laptop without the physical keyboard, and you can always buy a wireless bluetooth keyboard for $20 or less online for tablets with wireless Bluetooth like the iPad, Kindle Fire HD, Android Nexus 7, and Windows 8 Surface tablets.

I think as more apps, and websites are made to be easier to use on tablets, more people will use tablets than laptops because a lot of people don't like using the touchpad, and carrying around a mouse is less convenient while the touchscreen on an iPad, or Kindle Fire tablet is easy to use to scroll up and down pages, click on buttons, and links, and zoom in and out.

A tablet is also usually hundreds of dollars cheaper than laptops, and have the same or better performance as a high end smartphone like the iPhone 5, and Samsung Galaxy S3 without the cell phone contract.

I think a large percentage of the people who use tablets to surf the web might not own the tablet they are using, and are using borrowed tablets from school, work, parents, or the tablet section from Bestbuy, and similar stores with display tablets to let you try them out before they buy. Most likely a lot of people try out the web browser for iPads, and Android tablets at stores before they decide to buy.

2 million? What's the size of the school, like, 500? Plus most governments can;t even if they are in great shape, like Germany.

Oh, that's a small school. And 14 and 15 year old kids are the first two years of high school. I doubt they keep it forever though.

Oh, i the government is paying for them all, that's doable, but it would be very expensive for the government to do it themselves.
