According to Nintendo, the promotion, which is only available to consumers who buy the Deluxe Set, allows Wii U owners "who purchase digital content for Wii U, including downloadable games in the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and download codes sold at select retail stores, will earn points with a value equivalent to approximately 10 percent of the Nintendo eShop list price of each purchase."
Earned points are then converted into credit that can be redeemed on the Nintendo 3DS or Wii U eShops. Every 500 points is worth $5 of in-store currency, so New Super Mario Bros. U, which has a MSRP of $59.99, will earn you 599 points - which translates into $5 of eShop credit with 99 points leftover.

The promotion will be in effect through December 31, 2014, and will require the use of a Nintendo Network ID and password to access account details, such as points earned, as well as redeem those points for eShop credit. All points must be converted by June 30, 2015, but existing credit will not expire.

Nintendo also emphasized that this promotion only works through Deluxe bundle systems, and will not apply to eShop purchases made through Wii, Wii U Basic systems or the Nintendo 3DS.

pretty nice.

I hope you can find one for the contest. I'm saying this as a heads up, it's sold out everywhere. Standard is too except Walmart layaway.

To find a normal Wii U, but Deluxe will probably be a lot harder. Plus if I win I'd rather have PayPal because that way no shipping. :p

This is kind of not really a great savings. You get nothing off on the first purchase than 10% off if you purchase again, but though the estore only. Now lets remember the best wii U is only 32gigs. It'll really fill up quick I'd say.

Depends on what you download. You can add any external device, and you can get a 32GB USB for like $5 on eBay.

If you put games you purchase on the external do they still work if you plug it in?

Yes. They have an account system like the PS3 I'm pretty sure, so as long as the account is on the system, it will work.
