I think this is the most revolutionary idea they have ever had. Papyrus is back in its Nascar development mode. The only good Nascar games that have ever existed have been made by these guys. EA's Nascar games just suck compared to these those games are like eating dirt. I absolutely love this idea. Except for the fees on iRacing. It will be awesome for sure though. All starts in 2010. You can also race against real Nascar drivers as well. The ones that do participate in the game anyway. Sounds like lots of fun. This game could pull me back into Nascar racing.

They want to sanction it as an Online Pro series as well for Nascar. That idea is amazing. Could you imagine driving in Daytona 500 with your name and design and number and maybe even a paying sponsor in an online racing series for prize money or paycheck? If so I have a sidejob to prepare for when this comes about. I love this idea. No words on how far it will go just yet though. As there is still another year until its released. Its set for 2010 sometime right now.

QUOTE drivers like Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Brad Keselowski, A.J. Allmendinger, Marcos Ambrose and Colin Braun are involved in iRacing now.

QUOTE When the NASCAR game rights were sold to Electronic Arts in 2004, Sierra/Vivendi Games shut down the developer for budget reasons. However many of Papyrus' team decided to launch a new venture, an online PC racing simulation service called iRacing. The actual online service launched in August with little fanfare. However this week iRacing announced that it had brokered a deal with NASCAR to launch a full-saction online NASCAR racing series. It will be the first time the NASCAR franchise will be made available to play on the PC platform in over five years.
5 years of nothing and now a great new Nascar game coming from the same great guys that gave birth to Nascar on PC. Now they are moving on to give birth to first Nascar Sanctioned online racing seasons and prizes/sponsors for players? A game like that would be awesome. I personally can't wait to get in on the action. This means I might have to go back and find a new Racing wheel and pedals. I remember the old ones I had when I played old Nascar racing games. They were awesome. I got rid of them as I saw no new Nascar games ever coming. Now I have hope again!

QUOTE Does iRacing have the rights to all of NASCAR's tracks?

We are already close to being able to duplicate the real-world NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule. We currently have built or are in the process of building all of the International Speedway Corp (ISC) and Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI) tracks. Pocono, Indy and Dover are the only three independent tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit. We're in the process of building Pocono and we're in discussions with the other two.
For those that don't know. ISC tracks. and SMI tracks..

QUOTE Will there be prize money for each race and will there be an overall points championship winner at the end of the season that will get extra prize money?

We plan to put up monetary and other desirable prizes for the champions and other top performers in the pro-level NASCAR-sanctioned series.

Even if subscription fee is present and you win you could be making money.

QUOTE Can a person in the NASCAR iRacing series get a sponsorship and put ads on his or her car just like the pro teams do?

That's an interesting idea for sure, and something we're looking into. We're also evaluating the possibilities of series and individual race sponsorships as part of our investigation of broadcasting some of our key races on television or the Web.

Will it be just the Sprint Cup style of race for the iRacing series or will there be things like Truck or other series involved?

There will be a number of NASCAR-sanctioned series running in the iRacing service. In addition to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chevy Impala SS, we've already built and introduced to the service the Impala SS as raced in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, the Silverado truck from the NASCAR Camping World Series, and the Impala Late Model that races at many NASCAR-sanctioned tracks around the country.

Finally is there anything else you wish to say about NASCAR iRacing?

This really is an opportunity for gamers (and anyone) to learn what it's like to race, and to compete in real, professionally-sanctioned series against other drivers, some of them professional drivers in the real world. I think that people who enjoy driving games will be blown away by the realism and the fun and excitement of real racing. Come check it out!

New Nascar MMO game. Well kinda. 3 pages to read. Interesting stuff. If you are Nascar fan that is.

Can't wait well Iracing.com has some stuff ready for you to play with as well if you are big racing fan you can jump right into their current stuff or wait for Nascar stuff to be finished. Its all available for $13 a month(annual) or $19 a month regular. Although no word on how much per month for Nascar MMO type of game made by them would be or even if there would be a fee. Its possible they could have lower costs for it for different series you can choose to enter or less priced Nascar variant of this.
