A rumor suggest developer THQ Nordic might be preparing to announce work on a new Alone in the Dark project, the first since it acquired the IP.

The Snitch, a new but remarkably reliable leaker with a 100% accuracy rating so far, Tweeted out the mysterious tease this week. Simply reading, "Being afraid of the dark is what keeps most of us alive," the Tweet led to rampent speculation from gamers trying to suss out what the cryptic message could mean. Some quickly noted that it comes from a line in the Alone in the Dark film, when Edward Carnby tells the young boy, "Your mother's wrong, kid. Being afraid of the dark is what keeps most of us alive." Others noted the timing fits, as THQ Nordic has a showcase set in a few days time on August 12.

THQ is a name I remember but never really looked into what games I would like from them all these years. Not a genre I'm into but I hope it turns out well.

Official Trailer is up and it looks good:

I played the 2008 alone in the dark, weird game but completely different than this. Will play this one too for sure.

release date trailer, nice:

  • Return to the roots of psychological horror and experience an atmospheric journey worthy of the game that started the genre.
  • Dive into a world full of sounds that make your skin crawl with a haunting, yet mesmerizing doom jazz soundtrack.
  • Enjoy the thrill of desperate survival in a world where reality starts to crumble, evil lurks in every shadow and ammunition is scarce.
  • Experience this nightmare from either Emily Hartwood’s or Edward Carnby’s perspective and unearth the dark secrets of a gothic mansion.
  • Immerse yourself in a deep psychological story that goes beyond the realms of the imaginable, by Mikael Hedberg, cult horror writer of SOMA and Amnesia.

Collector's Edition announced:

Release date is now January 16, 2024

“Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man,” THQ Nordic explained in a press release. “We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible. To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October.”

I love horror so this is a great anticipation!! January 2024 isn't that far off really, but wouldn't it have been a better business decision to have it available for Christmas? I would have wanted to buy this for family members who are into horror like I am. Even if it had been squeezed in 30 days earlier than January, it's something that should have been pushed to do.

They posted dev video about monsters

Indeed! I hope the game will be great!

Game is delayed again:

The year is coming to an end, and the Christmas Holidays are upon us. However, until today, it didn’t seem that way for Pieces Interactive, the team developing our upcoming survival horror game, Alone in the Dark. With our initially planned release date in January 2024, the Christmas season would have been filled with stress and anything but a jolly time for them.

Therefore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive have decided to give Alone in the Dark a new release date: March 20th, 2024.

The well-being of the teams is a top priority, and both companies want to avoid any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays. Furthermore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive want to ensure that the game not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the community, especially with the outstanding performances of Hollywood stars David and Jodie as the main protagonists.

We understand that many people are eagerly awaiting the release, but your patience will be rewarded. We are thrilled to scare the living daylights out of you on March 20, 2024!
