heya everyone,
sorry if i posted this in the wrong place or anything like that, if i'm being honets, this is my first time even posting anything on a forum in my entire existence. I was directed here by a friend who suggested that there are alot of people on here who would gladly fire away their opinions and tips to helping me decide what laptop rig would be the better choice for my university studies (film, tech & special effects (using maya, 3ds max and after effects)) alongside some often but not intense gaming sessions on games like MW3, BF3, crysis 3, deus ex human revolution...etc, and that can also potentially play upcoming games like medal of honor warfighter, splinter cell and hitman.
So enough blabbering, i'll just whack down my choices here with the specs, and allow you kind dudes and dudettes to supply me with your wisdom![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 - Intel i5 2467m 1.6ghz, 8gb ram, 750gb HDD, geforce GT 640m 1gb, 15.6" screen - £645.00
medion Erazer X6813 - Intel i7 2630QM, 12gb ram, 750gb HDD, geforce GTX 460m 1.5gb, 15.6" screen - £729.00
dell xps 17 - Intel i5 2450m, 8gb ram, 750gb HDD, geforce GT 550m 1gb, 17" 3D screen - £699
I'm not into multi tasking much on a computer, i'll either be using one program or another, so i'll either be gaming, browsing the web, word processing or editing, i wont be doing more than one of those at the same time. I;ve also heard good things about the Acer m3, and as its thin and lightweight (and seems to play BF3 damed smooth) it appears respectably good for uni, however, i am clueless as to whether it'll be any good for editing in After effects, 3ds max and maya, and that in a nutshell is the laptops primary function.
I'm have an absolute maximum budget of around £820 but i'd like to try and keep it to around £750 (for those of you who have any other ideas) and i do apologise if you're from the US and getting annoyed that i'm using GBP, i was directed here as i was told everyone on here knows their stuff![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
again any help anyone can offer would be amazing and i'll be extremely grateful.
