Based on this interview with Shigeru Miyamoto posted by a Spanish gaming website:

Nintendo will launch a new Super Mario for this platform , which will combine the TV screen with the remote.

He also reconfirms Pikmin 3:

also a new 'Pikmin', which will use high-resolution images of the console

Well there you have it, new Mario game coming to Wii U, read all about it! Looks like Nintendo knows where the money is...

Um.... isn't this obvious. I mean... while it might not necessarily be 'soon', or maybe not as 'soon' as you'd like, it's still obvious.

If there's a console, made by Nintendo, then there's going to be a new Mario game for this console. Pretty much every single console that has ever existed since the NES has had a "new Mario game":
NES = Mario Bros
Game Boy = Super Mario Land
SNES = Super Mario World
Nintendo 64 = Super Mario 64
Game Boy Color = Super Mario Bros DX
Game Boy Advance = Super Mario Advance
GameCube = Super Mario Sunshine
DS = Super Mario 64 DS and/or New Super Mario Bros (depending on whether you don't count SM64DS)
Wii = Super Mario Galaxy (2)

Getting excited about something that's obvious? It's like getting excited about "OMG the new Windows 8 includes the ability to shut down your PC". In otherwords, it's obvious, like a Mario Kart game.

Well it's obvious, but sites can't post about what is likely to happen, only what is confirmed. Besides, there's no guarantee the future resembles the past.

All we need to know is if this is a launch title or not...

I think the big news here is that they're going to reveal it at E3. That's just a few months away.

The real question now is if it'll be a sidescroller or a 3d platformer. I'm thinking 3d would be better to show off the graphical capabilities of the console, plus it will help distinguish between the new sidescrolling Mario game coming to the 3DS.

Nintendo E3? IT's just E3. Microsoft and Sony are usually there as well as other developers.

As for when E3 starts, it's June 5th. Therefore it's not just a "few months", it's actually "1 and a half months".... well specifically, 1 month, 2 weeks, 6 days, which is basically 50 days.

Where is the Virtual Boy on that list TUK? I can't remember, what was the name of its Mario game...
