New Myspace relaunched today at https://new.myspace.com/

The new Myspace actually looks pretty good. I think I probably use it to promote my forum since it is related to music, and Myspace has a lot of music and entertainment fans on it.

I'm using it right now, and I like the new music player on Myspace for listening to music on the website while browsing the website. I think Myspace could be more popular then YouTube, Last.FM, Spotify, Rdio, and other websites for listening to music online.

I got an invite during the first rollout of them. I actually really liked it, the music player was so seamless that I forgot it was in a web browser. I also like how clean it is. I thought the horizontal scrolling would be terrible but it actually works really well.

Lets connect!

Hmm, this looks pretty interesting. I could see myself using this for music in the future, although I guess I'll wait and see.

I like how if you have at least one Myspace taab/window open that the music continues playing the same on Myspace, and continue playing if you close one tab. I think Myspace could be a good way to listen to music, and possibly buy/download MP3 from the site.

You can add me at https://new.myspace.com/johnson11

I still need to find a cool cover/background image, and avatar image. I like that the new Myspace does not require any HTML, CSS, and other coding skills to make a cool looking profile, and it looks nicer then Facebook which is starting to feel kind of like LinkedIN and other professional social networks where people are less expressive, and use it for jobs and family chat.

I think the relaunch Myspace is more likely to take members away from http://www.last.fm/ which is also a music social network like Myspace, but with fewer members, and less popularity.

Facebook is still the place to be to find old class mates, co-workers, family members, and other things, and Facebook now has Facebook Search and Voice chat in its iPhone App.

I think there is also a video chat feature on Facebook's website for video chatiing with friends.

Connected.

It will be interesting to see if people go back to this. If they do does it spell the end of FB?
Definitely not. They have a completely different target market.

It has pretty much driven me right away from LastFM. At least now I can actually stream something because practically everything on LastFM is blocked in my country.

I barely use FB as it is. Just another social site to help the masses waste more time.

It was funny to me how when FB really took off, Myspace became primarily used by whores and little kids. Now... I don't even know. Seems interesting but not worth the time IMO.

I had made a FB at the beginning of this year, but I stopped using it because I didn't have mnay friends, it was boring, and everyone asked me to do/ help them with Algebra.

The new Myspace now serves a useful purpose as a music discovery/search social network for finding new and old music which you like to listen to on its web player, and similar fans of music who like listening to similar music. Plus, it is free to listen to music on Myspace, and the quality is better then YouTube since most of the music on Myspace is uploaded by the actual artist or record company instead of music uploaded by fans on AMV and Lyric videos on YouTube who encode the audio in low bitrate audio like 64Kbps instead of 128-192KBps.

I think YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and most other social networking sites is not very good for finding music because of the different redesign and copyright takedowns which make it hard to find music since most of it will be deleted in a few days or weeks after someone flags it for copyright violations.

I disagree with youtube, you just got to know how to search.

Anyways, there are tons of music sites and I wonder how long myspace can keep this up before they are hit by lawsuits.

It is harder to search for foreign music since most non-foreign people can't type in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and other non-english music. The YouTube search ranking now ranks based on how many people liked, and watch the whole videos, so it is harder for less known music with fewer likes, and watches to rank high in YouTube search. Most of the good music videos is buried down at the bottom.

With Myspace, there are fan clubs/pages for people to listen to the music, and allow you to easily make friends with people who like similar music, so you can browse what songs they listen to on their profiles.

Myspace is unlikely to get sued by a lawsuit by the RIAA because it is owned by Justin Timberlake who is one of the biggest male pop singers of our generation like Elvis back in the past, and he is part of the music industry. Plus, most of the songs on Myspace are uploaded by the real singer or record company to promote their music online.
