Nintendo's revamped 3DS and 3DS XL sold more than 230,000 units within just two days of going on sale in Japan.

According to Famitsu (via NeoGAF) the 3DS XL was the more popular offering as it sold 172,332 units compared with the 61,151 managed by the New 3DS. That said, it's likely the decision to bundle the larger model in with the 3DS-exclusive Monster Hunter 4G played a role in those numbers.

Monster Hunter 4G managed to move 1.6 million copies in total, which is an incredibly impressive number in such a small space of time.

As for when the rest of us will see the new models, Australia and New Zealand are next in line with a November release currently planned, while both Europe and North America have to settle for a vague "2015" for now.

doing well at least.

Yeah. I assume some people ditched their old system (sold it to get dough for the new thing) to get the NN3DS.

I'm tempted to sell to upgrade.
My Circle Pad cracked (first was the rubber but now the cracked piece fell off) so I don't think I have a choice but to make the upgrade. I just wish the N3DS would come out before 2015 :/

I am planning to order a circle pad online and use an ifix tutorial to repair it myself tho.. not sure if that's a good idea or not...

lol you're exactly the person to blame jk..

It was my fault. I got a bit serious with Smash Bros. for 3DS, haha. I think those hours that I've invested into riding on the bike in Pokemon Y to hatch eggs also contributed to this unfortunate event :/ I didn't use that coin method, although I've held the circle pad down in Lumiose City and the long daycare route for a loooooong period of time ;-;
