New Super Mario Bros 2 confirmed for August 17th in Europe.

Woud like it a bit earlier so I could play it longer or maybe buy it when we're in London.. Will probably buy it close to launch then..

Eh, it could be worse. =P
I probably won't be getting this, though, at least not immediately; I still want to get Kid Icarus, and I want to have enough money to get Luigi's Mansion and/or Paper Mario.

Hey hey, just in time for my borthday! Party time for all!

You're not from Europe...

I'm secretly praying that because Europe and Australia are both PAL... the release dates will be relatively close. So yeah, I'm counting my chickens before they hatch. And there are a lot of chickens.

*maskpalm* (c wat i did thar?) PAL is not (as, oddly, many people seem to think) the name of a geographical region. Some people seem to imply that they think that they can (for example), say "OMG I'm taking a vacation/trip to the PAL region!"

PAL stands for Phase Alternating Line(s). It is an analogue television colour encoding system used in broadcast television systems in many countries. Other common analogue television systems are NTSC and SECAM.

Therefore, there's no such thing... as a PAL 3DS game... and therefore, that has nothing to do with whether the Australian release is close to Europe or not.

That being said, here's a list of Australian and European release dates for the last few Mario platformers:
Super Mario Galaxy = November 16, 2007 (Europe) -- November 29, 2007 (Australia) -- Australia was 13 days after Europe
New Super Mario Bros Wii = November 11, 2009 (Australia) -- November 20, 2009 (Europe) -- Europe was 9 days after Australia
Super Mario Galaxy 2 = June 11, 2010 (Europe) -- June 30, 2010 (Australia) -- Australia was 19 days after Europe
Super Mario 3D Land = November 18, 2011 (Europe) -- November 24, 2011 (Australia) -- Australia was 6 days after Europe

BTW, as you may know, Australian releases are generally always on a Wednesday or Thursday.

Therefore, the possible release dates for Australia for NSMB2 are:
August 1/2, August 8/9, August 15/16, August 22/23, and August 29/30.

The most likely dates being either August 15/16, or August 22/23.

Whoops, I got so used to seeing them on the Wii games that I just realised PAL wasn't on the 3DS boxes. But as European and Australian 3DS consoles can play the same games and are considered the same region (in a way), that's part of why I'm guessing the dates might be close. Though that's just me with my "come on Nintendo, it's-a common sense" thing.

Though even that's silly too. EVERYTHING'S SILLY IN THIS WORLD.

i can iz play ntsc wii gaem on cheap chinese tv? <-- completely unrelated and is supposed to make no sense whatsoever, I just felt like typing it.

Wait, Australian and European 3DS consoles and games are classified as from the same region? That'd be useful if Australians didn't get games months after they come out in Europe.

I'm fairly certain they are, seeing as Mario Tennis Open Yoshi QR codes work for the games sold in Australasia and Europe. But yeah, common sense would be the games are ready to be sold in either region, so they can be sold at similar times.

Here we are though, with me only just buying Mario Party 2 (it came out two weeks ago). Also, anybody excited about this so called Dolphin console? [/sarcasm]

I wonder how it is to live in "Australasia"..

You can always import a 3DS from Europe, import the game from Europe and waste all your money..

Australasia is the fancy term used to describe all of the countries in the Australian and asian area. Though I think the asian area gets a different 3DS console to us. But I think New Zealand is included in that (I can't remember, I'm sure TUK will correct me if I'm wrong) and I was too lazy to type New Zealand.

Also, I should just have to import the games from Europe, seeing as they are both considered to be part of the same region... right? Wait, actually... *remembers vague warning on box*

CRAP DAMN IT I DON'T THINK THAT'S HOW IT WORKS.

...wait, now after checking the Internet, apparently I can just import from Europe and it would play fine. There you go.

Well, let's just look at a game's region codes... let's use Mario Kart 7 because it's the first 3DS game with Shy Guys (right?)

Japan = CTR-AMKJ-JPN
Europe = CTR-AMKP-EUR
Australia = CTR-AMKP-AUS
USA = CTR-AMKE-USA

Take a look at Europe and Australia... both are CTR-AMKP
