We already knew that Nintendo's New Super Mario Bros. 2 was coming this August in North America, but now we know exactly which day. The game will ship to stores on August 19, 2012.

We caught a quick glimpse of the gameplay during today's press conference event as well, where it was revealed that Mario is going absolutely coin crazy in this new adventure. Coin collection looks like a major focus of this new design, and Mario will have a Coin Block power-up that Super Mario 3D Land players will recognize (it looks like him wearing a brick on his head). It constantly generates coins for him as he runs.

This game is gold crazy, the fire flower is gold flower and lets you shoot gold balls.
 
getting this game day one no question.

Me and my sis are HUGE mario fans so we can't wait to get our hands on this one.
 
Wow! I didn't know they was coming out with another one. I was play one on my iphone the other day lol. I'm so siked now!
 
Wow. That seems pretty nice.
I honestly didn't know that they were making a second one, much less it was coming out in Aug.
This makes me want to go ahead and buy a Wii instead of always playing at friends!

I was saying the same thing to my friend just now lol. We always have to go to his house to play the Wii. I need to get my own ones now, so I can get Mario.
 
This looks very interesting but I'm wondering why they had to name it the same as the original #2. Why does it have to replace that classic game. I like the gold idea and everything else too but I just think they could've found a unique name for the game so it doesn't trump the old school one.
Maybe I'm weird but Nintendo needs to innovate at some point - you can't just keep selling the same games.
 
So excited! I love this game. Except a lot of the levels are really not optimal for two players, we keep on bouncing off each other, and my boyfriend ends up picking me up and throwing me into the lava...It's cause some tension in our relationship.
 
Overall, i'm fairly excited about it. The only complaint i have about previous entries is the fact that they were a tad too easy. The one on the Wii was the best when compared to the older one on the DS. Let's hope they add a few tricks and twists to make it better than it already is.

Mario is going crazy with gold this time and its gold coins flying everywhere :o
The demo video looked great, wondering if they will provide a PC version of it too?
 
This series has always kept me entertained for the longest time even when I did complete story mode. I'm definitely buying this game. I hope there's a wifi feature, that's always the best part.
 
Unlike the usual NSMB game, this one looks amazing. I'll probably be getting it on launch day, or at least close to i. I actually think the coin gimmick is a really cool idea. Wouldn't have thought of it myself.
A very interesting game and looks worth the buy. :)
