Just read on Nintendo planning on a new switch model, from Siliconera and Wall Street Journal:

According to suppliers and others with direct knowledge of the plan, Nintendo plans to release a new version of the Switch console next year in order to maintain the sales momentum of the device.

According to the sources, Nintendo is still debating what new hardware and software features to include in the upgrade, while weighing the cost of features. One option is possibly improving the display, as the current Switch uses a lower-end liquid-crystal display without some techniques that are standard in more recent smartphone LCDs.

It all depends on what upgrades they include and how much all that will cost. I will keep the Switch I have as I am pretty happy with it.

I wonder how is the reliability and durability on these new Switches. I prefer buying an older Switch where the reliability and durability of the new Switch where you don't know if it is as reliable and durable as the old Switch where there are not a lot of complaints about durability and reliability problems.

This will most likely be a more ergonomic design, better battery life, clearer display and mayyyyyybe a better overall performance.

Sure there might be issues that aren't present in the current Switch, but this one also received a number of complaints at launch. So its all about whether you want to buy it at launch, or wait till potential hardware/software issues are fixed.

Whatever happens, this will be an upgrade of the current Switch in some way or another. The price shouldn't be all that high, and the Nintendo Switch may even get a price drop. I think the 3DS went down to $170 from $250 when the 3DS XL launched?

A new Switch coming out can be make used and older model Switches more affordable, so people on a tight budget will most likely pick a used Switch, or an older model Switch which uses a LCD screen.

If you just want to play Switch games, but don't want to spend as much money, buying a used Switch or a new Switch which uses the older LCD screen can be a good choice.

Hopefully, all future versions of the Switch come with a MicroSD memory card slot instead of forcing people to buy a Switch with more storage like 128GB of internal storage, and if you need more storage you need to pay more money for the 256 GB version of the Switch like how the Apple iPad only has internal storage, and no external MicroSD card slot to add more storage.

I am hoping for a sleeker design and a better screen. They don't need to change much, they should up tweak the hardware a bit (if its needed) make the design sleeker and use a better screen. Do that and I am in.

I think having a Micro-HDMI port on the Switch tablet could be useful for people who want to hook up the Switch to their monitor or TV at work, school, etc, but don't want to carry the Switch dock with them.
