Nintendo has revealed new details about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. In a statement this morning, the company showcased several of the new features we'll see in Link's upcoming adventure.
Two new areas were revealed, known as Lake Floria and Fun Fun Island. Lake Floria will introduce new Wii Motion Plus swimming controls as well as a new squid-like race, the Parella Tribe. Fun Fun Island will offer "a lot of fun," but "before Link can enjoy everything the island has to offer, he must find a way to fulfill the request of its lone inhabitant."
A new whip item was also revealed. According to Nintendo, "the whip also can be used to grab items and is integral to solving certain puzzles. Link's items can be selected in real time without pausing the game when he is on the ground, making it easier to switch between a sword and other items."
Finally, Nintendo revealed an entirely new potion creation mechanic. Players will be able to collect insects from the game's various locations. Each insect can then be added to potions that Link obtains, "giving the potions powerful new effects."
