The next entry in the Battlefield franchise is coming during the holiday season of 2016, Electronic Arts' CEO said during an earnings call today.
Andrew Wilson said the game will release during quarter 3 of EA's 2017 fiscal year, which finishes at the end of December. No other specifics were provided, but this release supports the recent predictions of analysts, who said EA may wait until 2016 for the next installment. This would not only avoid franchise fatigue, the analysts said, but also clear space for Star Wars: Battlefront in 2015.
Battlefield Hardline's new release date was also announced –– the game releases March 17, 2015 in North America and March 19 in Europe. The game was originally delayed to account for user feedback and other needed improvements, as developer Visceral Games is taking extra pains to make sure its upcoming game works properly upon release.
