The creators of the Otto, a hackable, animated gif camera are making a 1Ghz, open source embeddable computer that costs only nine dollars.
More Info
$9 does seem like a good deal for a 1 GHz PC with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, USB ports, and composite audio and video.
This $9 PC looks like a good mini PC for playing emulators of older consoles like the N64, SNES, Gameboy, and Playstation 1. It also looks good for installing on an older TV, or monitor to turn it into a cheap all-in-one PC or Smart TV for watching video, listening to music, and doing basic tasks like text editing.
I remember when a 1 GHz PC cost $1000, and not too long a go, a 4GB USB flash drive would of cost $10.
It is amazing how cheap some computer chips has gotten these days.
