As Google's open source smartphone platform has gained significant market share, hardware manufacturers have ramped up development and production of Android-based handsets. In just a few short years, the number of Android smartphones available to consumers has grown exponentially, and it seems Google's own device, the Nexus One, simply can't compete.

Today Google announced that they will discontinue online sales of the Nexus One, following sluggish sales. The product of months of speculation and hype, the Nexus One was Google's first foray into first-party smartphone hardware. The failure of the Nexus One, while not surprising given the wide range of more alluring Android-based handsets, is noteworthy due to the perception that it served as Google's answer to Apple's iPhone, one of the company's largest competitors.

Google will continue to offer the Nexus One through its online store until supplies from their most recent and final shipment are depleted, after which sales will continue for an unknown period of time in Europe and Korea, via providers Vodafone and KT.

I should buy one, not use it or anything but in 20-30 years I could sell it mint condition and make a cool million dollars.

I'm not sure it is the best used of money since if Google made tons of "Nexus One" phones then it wouldn't be worth much. I heard every "Youtube Partner, Popular Gadget Blogger and a lot of Google Employees" got a free "Nexus One" Smart phone, so a lot of them exist already.

The first I-Phone or BlackBerry might be worth more since they basically started the Smartphone trend.

20 years ago everyone had a Nes game, yet today there selling for $40,000 dollars! so yeah, with time things get rare then the rich collecting people want them no matter the price.

I disagree, a lot of rich people did not get rich because of spending lots of money on toys, travels, cars, and other things.

The rich people I know are very cheap, and buy stuff off of Ebay, and Craigslists. Plus, they spend their money on stocks, buisnesses, gold, silver and other things which will make them money.

There are exceptions like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Britney Spears, but they are mega rich because their family were rich or they made a lot of money from movies, TV shows, and music albums, so they can spend a lot.

It just the people who are willing to spend money which pay high prices for older tech. If you have a full-time job, or a house which you own. It is easy to take out a loan, or use a credit card to buy over priced items on Ebay since if you can't pay the bank back. They can take money from your wages, or sell your house.

I remember when people bought PS3s to sell on Ebay, and Craigslist. The early seller made more, but the sellers which sold latter on made almost the same or a little bit more then the purchase price.

I wonder how much the orignal PS3, Wii, and 360 be worth in 20 years.

You have to be careful buying electronics thinking they will go up in price since a lot of older computers and other electronics like VCRs, Cassete tape player are not even worth 10 dollars these days and end up in the junk yard.
