Never played the first, I can't now because it isn't on PS4, many people call for a port. Apparently they are very good games, even if you aren't a fan of JRPG's. I'd give them both a shot if I could.
The first one was good, held a lot of charm and magic to it but I thought it kind of flunked as a JRPG.
