The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are set to get their very own live-action movie... again.

Variety reports that Mirage Group, which owns the rights to the property, is prepping a live-action film that will focus on the origins of the anthropomorphic sewer-dwellers.

Galen Walker, who produced the 2007 CGI iteration TMNT is onboard, as is Scott Mednick, who used to head up Legendary Pictures and also exec produced 300.

He told the trade mag: "The original dozen comics created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman are some of the best source material one could hope for."

Mednick added that the film will remain true to the spirit of the original comics, and may use sinister sounding "face replacement technology", which will allow the turtles to be much more expressive.

The movie is pencilled in for a 2011 release.

didn't the last one suck?

I didn't watch the last one, but from the commercials. It look bad.

I think TMNT should be in cartoon form. Live-Action is cheesy a lot of the time.

Maybe a little, but it worked well for first 3 live action movies. Storyline was little oddball in one or two of them. Movies were great though. I still love the old Live-Action films of Turtles.

TMNT didn't look like it was a good movie to watch if you ask me. I think Live-Action is a great way to go with rebooting it though. We might see Shredder again. This time though things will be even better.

Ninja Turtles in 3D will be cool, but it has to be good quality 3D movies like Shrek, FF Advent Children, etc.
