sourceNintendo has today confirmed a new method of selling downloadable Wii U and 3DS games.
The new distribution mechanic - only available in Germany, Ireland and the UK initially - enables retailers to sell digital codes via a "tablet-based solution".
Gamers can visit "participating" stores to pick up Wii U and 3DS game codes, including add-on content. The retailer will issue a code permitting customers to download the content to their Nintendo devices via the eShop.
The system is already available at Legoland Germany, and recently launched at Smyths Toys Superstore in Reading, UK. "Further European countries" will follow in the future.
Nice for Nintendo to be the first to do this.
