In what could be the most shocking move ever, Nintendo will no longer be making the NES Classic device with the following statement issued to IGN:

Throughout April, NOA territories will receive the last shipments of Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition systems for this year. We encourage anyone interested in obtaining this system to check with retail outlets regarding availability. We understand that it has been difficult for many consumers to find a system, and for that we apologize. We have paid close attention to consumer feedback, and we greatly appreciate the incredible level of consumer interest and support for this product.

A representative for Nintendo added to IGN: “NES Classic Edition wasn’t intended to be an ongoing, long-term product. However, due to high demand, we did add extra shipments to our original plans.”

I'm surprised. You'd think it would be on going for another year or so. I doubt they've met their supply and demand.

I think most people who want a Nes classic probably got a Nes Classic by now, or can get one on eBay and Craigslist for a fair price when the hype becomes less popopulat. Hopefully, Nintendo made enough Nes Classics for the people who still want to buy one, or Nintendo decides to make a few more Nes Classic, so most people who want one get one.

Not a great business decision, but that's been the motto for Nintendo.

I guess they didn't want to explain why you can get 30 games, a console, and a controller for $60 when they plan to charge $5 per game on a console you have to buy separate at $300.

They are actually in pretty high demand right and most prices are going through the roof thanks to scalpers.

I think if you wait a few months, the prices for the Nes Classic may come down, or you may find some used on eBay, Amazon, Craigslist, and other stores when some people get bored with them.

There maybe some Nes Classics which are still in storage, and haven't been put out for people to buy yet.

Maybe, but for now its price is skyrocketing.
