It's the end of an era in Japan: Nintendo has officially dropped hardware support for the Famicon system as of October 31st.

Famicon is the Japanese version of the NES, and was originally launched in 1983. Nintendo said the parts for repairs have become increasingly difficult to obtain, so you Famicon users are out of luck.

Also bereft of support: Super Nintendo (Super Famicom), Nintendo 64, Gameboy, and Gameboy Pocket lines.

Of course, many of the best titles from those systems are available on the virtual console, so you can still play the games, but no repairs for you, old-school-console guy!
