Two arcade classics adorning fresh psychedelic skins are coming to the Nintendo DS this summer, with Square-Enix today announcing that it is to release both Space Invaders Extreme and Arkanoid DS later this year.
While classic arcade ports haven't previously fared well on Nintendo's handheld, these two new iterations boast a wealth of new features that have already had critics and fans fawning over them upon their Japanese release. Arkanoid is compatible with an optional paddle accessory that apes the arcade machine's original control method, while Space Invaders Extreme manages to effectively update the classic formula with a Lumines-esque audio-visual overhaul.
