In case you missed the news, it was revealed last month that Nintendo is attempting to sue the US government over Donald Trump's global 10% tariff rate on imported goods. Nintendo has called the tariffs "unlawful" and is seeking refunds as well as interest, as it claims to have "suffered injury" since their implementation.
As for exactly how these tariffs have impacted Nintendo, we're not quite sure, but it's very possible that the company's recent decision to jack up the price of its physical games (despite what Nintendo says) could be an example.
In any case, the lawsuit that has been filed today claims that Nintendo is trying to profit from its attempt to get tariff refunds from the United States, as it has already profited from the increased price of Nintendo hardware and accessories. Instead, the lawsuit is demanding that Nintendo pass on any tariff refunds that it receives to those who purchased Nintendo hardware at an increased price between February 1, 2025 and February 24, 2026.
