The Nintendo Switch, it seems, is not designed to run when the surroundings hit 95 degrees. Tweeting on its Japanese account, as spotted by Eurogamer, the company explained the console should be used only between “5 to 35 ℃.” which would be between 41 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

“If the temperature of the main unit becomes too high, it may sleep automatically to protect the main unit,” explains Nintendo (translated by Twitter). Which is to say, playing in such sunshine isn’t going to melt the chips inside, but rather just have the machine switch itself off to prevent anything worse from happening.

It adds, “If there is foreign matter or dust on the air intake/exhaust port of the main unit, remove it with a vacuum cleaner. For your safety, do not disassemble the main unit.”

This is good advice to not play the Switch in hot weather.

I wonder if a company will invent a third-party cooler for the Switch like some Gaming smartphones which come with a clip-on fan to help cool a gaming smartphone when playing higher video quality games which can make the device run hotter, and cause slow down problems.

I remember back when I lived in like a 3rd or 4th floor apartment, no AC, dead summer wanting to play games but couldn't because my room was way to hot to power anything on.

That does sound uncomfortable.

It is too bad that Gaming devices except water cooled Gaming PCs usually don't come with better cooling to work in very hot rooms.

Feels bad to live where it's too hot. Here, where it's a little cooler in the afternoon I can see it being playable, but normally it isn't too bad. Maybe handheld mode is better off then but with caution.
