The Wii U GamePad's wireless nature is kind of a figure of speech, what with how often its out-of-the-box battery life requires a charge. Nintendo's high-capacity GamePad battery has jumped shores to offer a solution to the annoyance, as long as you're willing to pay $32 for it.

The product listing states the new battery pack "offers up to 8 hours of use," which it compares to the existing GamePad battery's "3-5 hours." Users will need just a screwdriver to install it before they get back to hosting parties with Super Mario 3D World and discovering nightmare-worthy creatures in Pikmin 3.

Hopefully when I get a Wii U it will have this.

Why weren't they launching the controller with this before?

I mean 3 hours on your controller is not very good. That's pretty much just getting started playing (especially during a party where you might have the system running for like 9-10 hours) when you're already having to plug it in for a recharge.

Why? More money this way.

This battery will make the Wii U tablet has similar battery life to a budget Android tablets like the Google Nexus 7 which has up to 9 hours of battery life, but the Nexus 7 has a Quadcore  1.5GHz CPU, 400Mhz video chip, 2GB of RAM, Bluetooth, Wifi, HD screen a long with other features which use up battery life.
