Nintendo, Sony Won't Attend PAX East

Nintendo will not host a booth, exhibit or game panel at PAX East this year, marking the first time ever the company has skipped the gaming convention. Sony will not have a presence at the show, either.

The lack of Nintendo's presence at PAX East was first reported by Nintendo World Report, which confirmed the information with a company representative. Nintendo of America also further elaborated on its decision to miss the convention in a prepared statement: "Interacting directly with our fans and letting them play our games firsthand is a key component of our approach. That doesn’t include PAX East this year, but we will offer our fans a variety of opportunities to get their hands on Nintendo products in 2014."

The move also comes as a surprise with Mario Kart 8 just months away from release, though information is still scarce about the Wii U game's online modes and features. PAX East seems like a perfect time to reveal more information about Mario Kart 8 as well as let people get some hands-on time with the flagship title.

This is too bad for Gamers who plan on attending PAX, or already bought tickets to attend PAX.

Not letting people try out games, and learn more about new games at a booth seems like a miss opportunity for Nintendo, and Sony to convince more gamers to play their games, and consoles.
