As part of the Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct event, Nintendo confirmed that the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack will launch on October 25. Individual memberships will cost $49.99 for 12 months, while family plans will cost $79.99 for 12 months. A prorated discount will be available to current Nintendo Switch Online subscribers that upgrade to the Switch Online Expansion Pack. Besides the previously revealed perks, Nintendo also revealed a bonus that's coming with the Switch Online Expansion Pack.

Starting November 5, the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise DLC will be made free to all Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers.

Honestly I don't think $50 is as bad as everyone makes it out to be when Sony and Microsoft have always been $60 a year. However, they should make a plan without the Animal Crossing DLC for those who don't own the game or who don't want it, making the cost go down by at least $10 or $20. I guess we'll see though.

I don't know much about the topic but from the complaints I read online, the main issue is that they just don't offer enough features/things to be charging the same as Sony and Microsoft. Any truth to that?

I feel the price is fair, but I feel it could be cheaper by $10 or more, so more people can afford it.

So here is the situation about this, yes it is a bit high-priced but not surprising since they are in a sense remastering the games a bit and adding online play for some not to mention licensing fees. But compared to Sony and MS's deal, it sucks because we're not getting new games every month and what we are getting are aged old games. Given how the N64 controllers are sold out, I think many are going for it.

I'm so excited to play Paper Mario again. It's probably the only RPG I've played more than 5 times that isn't a remake.
