According to a recent article, Level 5 president Akihiro Hino announced that they will NOT be releasing the highly anticipated Studio Ghibli game Ni No Kuni outside of Japan for the Nintendo DS. Instead, they will only be releasing the PS3 version.

What's the difference? Well, asides from getting a higher overall score from Famistu, the DS version of the game also comes with a physical copy of the magic book in the game. The PS3 version only has a digital version of the book. Level 5 claims it is too difficult to bother translating and packaging the book for international shipping. Boo hoo.

A digital magic book can be seen around 1:18 in the video.

Seems like they just don't care about releasing this amazing game because they feel the international audience does not care so much about RPGs or Studio Ghibli in general. Meanwhile, I have to settle for the inferior version of the game.

EDIT: The PS3 Wizard Edition ($99.99) comes with a large physical copy of the book, a plushie, and some in-game rewards. Nonetheless, that's a LOT of money when the DS version would have been MUCH cheaper. The Wizard Edition is also exclusively sold through Club Namco (Source).

This is just crap. Famitsu gave the PS3 game a 36/40 while the DS game have 38/40.
